When there is rain or snowfall outside, children get bored because they may have seemingly nothing to do. But you can make them realise that they can do the best use of home time with the following fun indoor activities.

1. Indoor Basketball
The indoor version of basketball is simple. You just need a bucket and a sock which you can turn into a ball by rolling it up. Or you can even have a small light ball.
Place the bucket on a high point in the room so that children have to jump a little to throw the ball in it. Every player has to take a turn to throw the sock-ball or real ball into the bucket.
You can add a variety by suggesting to throw the ball from a distance or running towards the bucket from a distance and then throw the ball in.
You can even have a basketball hoop and many other sports equipment at Step2 Direct or you can check out your favorite toy shop near your place.
2. Memorising a Picnic
This easy and fun verbal memory game will challenge children and make them laugh at the same time.
Let all of them sit in a circle and the first player will tell how she had a picnic, where, with whom, what she packed, what games she played, what she saw etc. in 2 minutes.
Then the next player will tell his memories and so on. This is an excellent memory game if the children tell real stories and can be a game to trigger creativity if they tell something imaginary.
They will also learn how to give a report in the set time. Plus, they’d like to memorise how they enjoyed their picnic.
3. Arts and Crafts
Making children get engaged into arts and crafts is indeed useful during indoor days.
Buy the best kids easel at Step2 Direct and other arts and crafts material and let them create arts and crafts to their heart’s content.
Don’t suggest them what to draw or craft. Let them do it with their own imagination. Of course, make suggestions if they ask you.
And don’t forget to praise the art or craft after they finish. Place the pieces on display in prominent corners in the home so that they will feel proud.

4. Hot Potato
This is another fun game in which children are to sit in a circle on the floor and you have to play their favourite music.
Give them an object like a potato, a soft ball or bean bag etc. and let them pass it to each other as fast as possible.
Stop music periodically and whenever it stops, the player holding the potato should leave the game. The last player left is the winner.
5. Home Bowling
You can have bowling at home with spare water bottles and medium-sized indoor ball. Arrange six to ten bottles at the end of your living room. Mark the other end with a duct tape.
Let the children play bowling with a medium-sized ball. Add fun to the game by making it look realistic with a scoreboard and a prize.
Thus, you can make your children’s indoor day fun with these activities. If you too have such ideas, don’t forget to share with us.
